The Elite Gridiron Games are very excited about bringing California teams back to the state of Idaho. In 2008, we brought in four Northern Californian powers and two of those California teams ending up going undefeated. All four games were played in the dome at Idaho State University. Grant High school ended up knocking off Idaho State champ Highland 34-21 and ended up the season with a top 5 national ranking. Whitney beat Idaho Falls 48-0 and ended up winning a section championship. They were passed over by a 2 loss St. Mary’s team for a state bid. Del Oro got beat by Lake City 34-33 and Minico defeated Colfax 28-6 evening the states at 2-2.
The tie will be broken September 17th as three California teams are traveling to play three of Idaho’s powers at the University of Idaho. The Whitney Wildcats come to Idaho with a deeper team than the 2008 squad led by 4 star national recruits TE Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick (USC Commit) and Oregon commit QB Jake Rodriguez. Whitney will take on defending Idaho 5a state champion Coeur d’Alene. The other California teams traveling are Rio Linda and Vanden . Vanden takes on Highland which is the most storied program in the state. Highland has won and been to the most Idaho State Championships. Rio Linda faces Lake City High which has a knack of sending kids to the next level.
There will be four games in Moscow as two Idaho 8 man teams will open up the event. Tri-Valley takes on 8 man power Salmon River. The Tri-Valley/Salmon River game kicks off at 11:00am, Vanden/Highland 2:00pm, Rio Linda/Lake City 5:00pm, Whitney/CDA 8:00pm.
